Justification Cenchrus agrimonioides var. laysanensis was endemic to the Kure, Midway and Laysan Atolls, Hawaii. The last known individual was seen in the 1980s. The vegetation of Kure and Midway has been heavily altered by the construction of government installations. Laysan's vegetation was ravaged by rabbits during the early 1900s.
