Lotus berthelotii
family: Fabaceae
This remarkable plant with its large bright red flowers is very popular in cultivation where it can often be seen growing in hanging baskets, a very nice sight.
It is endemic to Tenerife in the Canary Islands and may now be extinct in the wild, not even one location that former was home of this species is known to exist.
But it is often planted, even on the Canary Islands, and so it still can be found on Tenerife, but only in cultivation.
