Agalinis caddoensis - Pennell Caddo Parish False Foxglove
Known only from the 1913 type collection from Caddo Parish near Shreveport in northwest Louisiana. A status survey was conducted in the fall of 1992 and the taxon was not rediscovered at the type locality, nor were new populations found in remaining suitable habitat in northwest Louisiana. It was also unsuccessfully searched for in the 1970's in northwest Louisiana and in the mid-1980's in the Texarkana area of southern Arkansas and northeastern Texas. It is probable that the original collection site has been assimilated into Shreveport as the city has grown since 1913. However, because the habitat described for the site apparently still occurs in the region, and because the species superficially resembles more common members of the genus, the possibility remains that it survives and will be rediscovered.
