Species Description A robust, erect to decumbent perennial herb. Stems are 9-50 dm long. Flowers are white, sometimes tinged reddish purple.
Habitat Moist and wet forests.

Abundance No plants are known to be extant. This variety was last observed in 1914.
Global Threats The habitat of this species is threatened by introduced deer and alien plants.

Taxonomic Comments Genus nearly endemic to hawaiian islands, except one species in tahiti. Species endemic to hawaiian islands, variety endemic to lanai.
