Psychotria adamsonii was an endemic species of the island of Ua Pou, in the Marquesas archipelago, now considered extinct. It was only observed at a single location in 1929. Despite several surveys of the original location in the early 2000s, the species has not been seen again. The reasons for its extinction are poorly understood, but goats were a potential threat.
