Once a common tree, occurring on the central ridge between 600 and 800 m, the species was thought to have become extinct until three old trees and some seedlings were discovered in 1976 above Osborne's Cottage. Today only seven wild plants are known to exist at the Osborne's site. It is not known how many species are left at Coles Rock. Source: www.iucnredlist.org/details/37595/0

"JUSTIFICATION The last wild She Cabbage Trees (Lachanodes arborea) died in 2012. Some cultivated specimens have been replanted in semi-wild situations since the 1980s, but little or no recruitment has been observed except at one site. The species was listed as ‘Critically Endangered C2a(i); D’ by Cairns-Wicks (2003). The transfer of status to ‘Extinct in the Wild’ is the result of the death of the last surviving individuals in the wild." Source: www.iucnredlist.org/species/37595/67370818
