"Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador. Discovered in 1939 at the Hacienda Clementina, near the Río Pita, en Los Ríos province. No new records appeared until its rediscovery in the same locale by X. Cornejo y C. Bonifaz in 1996. Not known to occur inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, its conservation status is critical due to its small geographical range and massive forest fragmentation in the area. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known."
