Scientific Name: Impatiens boinensis H.Perrier
Assessment Information [top]
Red List Category & Criteria: Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct) B2ab(ii,iii,iv,v) ver 3.1
Year Published: 2017
Date Assessed: 2016-07-12
Assessor(s): Ravololomanana, N. & Lantoarisoa, F.
Reviewer(s): Andriambololonera, S., Letsara, R, Manjato, N., Phillipson, P., Rabarimanarivo, M., Rajaonary, F. & Rakotonirina, N.
Justification:
Impatiens boinensis has an area of occupancy of 9 km² and occurs in only one subpopulation, which is not in a protected area. The species is expected to be subject continuing decline due to degradation of the habitat through exploitation of natural resources, including logging & wood harvesting. Based on these threats there is only one location, and it is therefore assessed as Critically Endangered, and Possibly Extinct since it hasn't been recorded for over 100 years.
Date last seen: 1907
