Justification:
Bulbophyllum hirsutiusculum has an area of occupancy (AOO) of 9 km2 and occurs in only one location. This species is only known from the collection of the type specimen in 1928. This species does not occur within protected areas and it experiences continuing decline as a result of illicit collection and forest exploitation. It is therefore assessed as Critically Endangered and is Possibly Extinct. Further field research is recommended for the species.

Range Description: This species is endemic to Madagascar where it grows in the province of Fianarantsoa at elevations of 1,000 to 1,499 m asl (Hermans et al. 2007).
