The area around Kiambu town is densely populated with increasing urban development as the population of nearby Nairobi increases (County Government of Kiambu 2014). There are a few small forest reserves in Kiambu county but they are surrounded by farmland and urban development. In the north of Kiambu county is the edge of the Kikuyu Escarpment Forest reserve. This reserve which is also an Important Bird Area was assessed in 2010 (Birdlife 2015) as having very high level of threats, including farming (small holder and agro-industry) and logging. As the locality of the one herbarium specimen is cited as "Kiambu" it is not possible to know whether this was from near the town or from a forest within Kiambu county. Only known from one herbarium specimen collected in 1935. There is no information on the specimen as to how frequent the species was. The area around Nairobi has been well collected (GBIF 2016) but this species has not been recorded since. www.iucnredlist.org/species/63924007/63934935
