"JUSTIFICATION
This species is only known from its type collection (Heyneano s.n.) made previous to the original publication in 1921 (Valeton) from Batavia (now Jakarta) on Java (Valeton 1921, ZRC 2019). Practically all natural land in Jakarta has been developed. It is highly unlikely that this species is still extant in this area. Etlingera heyneana is therefore assessed as Extinct."
